VDS-unlimited pricing

The main principle of VDS-unlimited pricing is as follows. If you do not exceed the limits of your current package, you pay the monthly fee only. If not, you pay for extra usage of the resource that was ecxeeded.

Let's consider one example to make the calculation method clear. We will use VDS B Unlim that has the following parameters:

• Guaranteed memory. Included into the package - 256 MB. You can use up to 1024 MB. Extra usage price - 0.02 EUR/MB per month.
• CPU. Included into the package - 700 MHz. You can use up to 2400 MHz. Extra usage price - 0.03 EUR/Mhz per month.
• Disk space. Included into the package - 10000 MB. You can use up to 50000 MB. Extra usage price - 0.0010 EUR/MB per month.

Calculation of memory and CPU extra usage

Extra usage of memory and CPU is calculated in the same manner. All the descriptions below concerning operating memory can be fully applied to accounting of the CPU extra usage.

For the memory and CPU pricing we will take 95% of usage. Every 5 minutes the information about the VDS current memory and CPU usage is gathered. Once 24 hours passed, 5% of the maximum values from all the gathered data are excluded and the maximum value from the left values is accounted. This maximum value is 95% of the usage.

For example, on the 27th of October 95% of the operating memory usage  was 445MB. The VDS B Unlim includes 256 MB. Extra usage price is 0.02 EUR/MB per month. There are 31 days  in October.

This extra usage will cost you (445 - 256) * 0.02 / 31 = 0.1219 EUR. Not so much.

Calculation of the disk space extra

Calculation of the disk space usage is much easier. At the beginning of new 24 hours we will take the value of disk space used and calculate its extra usage.

For example, on the 27 of October 11222 MB of the disk space were used. VDS B Unlim includes 10000 MB. Extra usage price is 0.001 EUR/MB per month. There are 31 days in October.

The extra usage price is (11222 - 10000) * 0.001 / 31 = 0.0394 EUR.

View the current usage

To view you VDS current usage, we would recommend that you use the VDSmanager control panel (do not confuse it with ISPmanager!), the "Current system usage" module. You can find a link to VDSmanager in the VDS welcome letter or in the "Virtual servers" module of the billing.

The "Current system usage" module displays the usage of memory and CPU per every 5 minutes. The values are displayed as percentage of your package limits. Please note, the top limit (100% of resources)  for "VDS B" and "VDS B Unlim" is different:

• 100% of memory for VDS B = 256 MB. 100% memory for VDS B Unlim = 1024 MB.
• 100% CPU for VDS B = 700 MHz. 100% CPU for VDS B Unlim = 2400 MHz.
